Dear Families,

Hello, my name is Ms. Haley Rheault. I am currently a senior at Northern State

University where I am majoring in art education. I am originally from Fargo, North Dakota, but

have lived in Aberdeen ever since I graduated from high School in 2011. I really enjoy being in

South Dakota and have hopes to becoming an art teacher here upon graduation.

I have been given the opportunity to be placed at Groton Area High School, where I will

observe and assist in the art classroom. I will be working with Mrs. Harry to further develop my

knowledge on how to work with students, develop a unit plan along with lessons and learn

different teaching techniques used in the art classroom. During this experience, I will be

observing how to manage an art classroom, how to work with students individually and how to

assist students in improving their art skills.

Ever since I was little I have wanted to be a teacher; it wasn’t until high school that I

realized the passion I had for art. I thoroughly enjoy teaching students the elements of art and the

importance of art in their development. Being able to see students’ progress in something is one

of the most beneficial aspects of being a teacher. I am excited to be spending time in the art

classroom and look forward to getting the opportunity to work with each individual student.
